Jeanne J. (Sutton) Babbitt, age 87, New Castle resident, went Home to be with God on Saturday, November 6, 2010. She was at her home surrounded by her loving family.



She was born on May 6, 1923 in Muncie, Indiana to the late Edgar “Ned” R. and Mabel Cline Sutton.



She married Marshall F. Babbitt on October 26, 1940 in Newport, Kentucky.



Jeanne was a 1940 graduate of Muncie Central High School, and has resided in New Castle, Indiana since 1944. She was the matriarch of her family, and led a Christian Life by example. Her heart was always open for anyone in need. She loved being a wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She was very involved with her family’s activities and enjoyed attending any activity her children and grandchildren were participating in. She will be remembered for making her “world famous noodles”, which her family and friends relished. She was an active member of the 1st Baptist Family Life Center Church in New Castle, Indiana where she was very involved in several areas of ministry including the funeral and courtesy dinner committee. She was a volunteer for many years at the Henry County Hospital Gift Shop, and was a member of the “Mothers and Friends of Veterans” Club. Left to cherish her memory: 3 children, Sharon K. Clore of New Castle, Indiana, Michael R. (wife Kathy) Babbitt of Shelbyville, Indiana, and Pamela S. Snell of New Castle, Indiana; 9 grandchildren, Robin (husband Tom) Chester of Muncie, Indiana, Lori Hammond of Greenwood, Indiana, Todd (wife Jean) Babbitt of Shelbyville, Indiana, Wendy K. (husband Brian) Meek of New Castle, Indiana, Andrew (wife Erin) Snell of New Castle, Indiana, Tyler Babbitt of Indianapolis, Indiana, Natalie M. Babbitt of California, Tiffany (husband Tony) Roach of Losantville, Indiana and Tasha Lockridge of Muncie, Indiana; 11 great-grandchildren, Erica Raines, Ashleigh Weeks, Nicholas Veneri, Brittany Douglas, Taylor Babbitt, Steven Carper, Allyson Meek, Abigail Meek, Madelyn Meek, Taylor Snell, and Marshall Snell; 4 great-great-grandchildren, Oliver Tompkins, Roamyn Grant, Luca Veneri, and Magnolia Douglas; 1 sister, Rosabell Cole of Muncie, Indiana; 1 brother, Edgar “Bud” R. (wife Ruth) Sutton of Muncie, Indiana; several nieces, nephews, special friend Ruth King, and many wonderful friends in her church family, at the New Castle Senior Center, and throughout the community.



She was preceded in death by: her parents, Edgar R. and Mabel Cline Sutton; her husband, Marshall “Red” Babbitt in October of 1995; 1 sister, Berneda McCord; son-in-law, Kelly Clore.





Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at the 1st Baptist Family Life Center Church (709 South Memorial Drive New Castle, Indiana 47362) in New Castle, Indiana with Rev. Ken Durham and Rev. Jack Hannum both officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Ridge Cemetery in Muncie, Indiana. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at Macer-Hall Funeral Home and Cremation Services in New Castle, Indiana.
