Katherine M. (Meyer) Bartels of Tecumseh passed away December 12, 2012 at Belle Terrace nursing facility in Tecumseh at the age of 101 years, 1 months and 16 days. She was born Oct. 26, 1911 to Diedrick and Sophia (Laue) Meyer on a farm three miles southwest of Tecumseh, NE.
Katherine was baptized on November 19, 1911 and confirmed June 8, 1924 by Pastor C.J. Jobst.
Katherine attended Rural Dist. 49 and Tecumseh High School. She was united in mrriage to Edmund J. Bartels at St. John's Lutheran Church in Tecumseh on Feb. 2, 1931 and lived on a farm near Tecumseh. To this union three children were born. She was a homemaker, enjoyed quilting, crocheting, playing cards and visits from family and friends. Katherine was a lifetime member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Tecumseh.
She is survived by her daughter Darla Gottula and husband Jerry of Tecumseh, NE, son Ronald Bartels and wife Roberta of Omaha, NE. grandchildren Jrff Gottula and wife Sandra of Elk Creek, Ne. Gina Murphy of Omaha, Ne. and Brad Bartels of Denver, CO. great-grandchildren Joel and Ashley Gottula of Elk Creek and Kayla and Tyler Murphy of Omaha, NE.
Katherine was preceded in death by her parents, husband Edmund in 1979, two brothers, two sisters and infant son Rodney.
Graveside services were held on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012 at the Tecumseh Cemetery with Rev. Jason Wolter officiating.
