"Mary Catherine Hanes, formerly of Millerton, Pa. died Tuesday, February 15, 2005 at the Chemung County Nursing Facility where she had been receiving care at the age of 84. Mary was born on December 8, 1920 in Austin, Pa., daughter of Lewis and Emma Clinger Fowler. Mary was a homemaker who also was employed with Capabilities helping those in need. She enjoyed caring for her home, her pets and her loving family that survive. Children: Barbara A & Hal Sechrist, Charlotte & Walter Badeau, Richard & Deborah Hanes; several grandchildren including Annette Valicenti, Bernedette & Joseph Rohl, Luella & Brian Korski, Dayna & Jason Telech, Christopher & Heather Badeau, Koreen & Greg Chisolm, Mark & Jan Badeu, Kristin Badeau, Scott Dadeau; many great grandchildren. Mary was predeceased by her parents, two brothers, and her long time friend and companion, Duane Barrett with whom she shared many happy memories. Family and friends will be received at Caywood’s Funeral Home & Gardens, 1126 Broadway, Southport on Thursday, Friday 17, 2005 from 6-8 pm. Funeral services will take place at Caywood’s on Friday morning at 10 am with the Rev. Bill Vallett officiating. Gravesite services will follow at Bradford County memorial Park, Towanda, Pa. Memorial donations may be directed to the Y.W.C.A. at 211 Lake St., Elmira, NY 14901 in Mary’s memory."Published in Star-Gazette on Feb. 17, 2005
