The parents of George R. Chapman have not been determined. In the 1850 Green County, Kentucky census, George Chapman, age 13 and his sister, Nancy Chapman, age 9 were living in the household of Richard and Ann Stearman. In the 1860 Taylor County census, George and Elizabeth D. Chapman are family #162. He is 23, a Carpenter, born in Kentucky. She is 20 years of age and also born in Kentucky. They have no children. When the 1870 Census for Saloma Post office district, George Chapman was head of household 226. He was 32 years old, a Farm Laborer, born in Kentucky. His wife, Elizabeth D., was 30 years old. The children were: Sarah E., 8; William T., 5; Bettie T., 4; and John R., age 1 year. When the 1880 Census was taken for Campbellsville, Taylor County, Kentucky. Geo R. Chapman was 42, a farm laborer, His wife was Elizabeth D., age 40. Their children still at home were: William T., 13; John R., 11; George W., 7; Lydia A., 5; and Edward H., 3. George R. Chapman died 21 March 1882 and is buried in Saloma Cemetery in Taylor County, Kentucky.
