Funeral services for John J. Allen of Glen Carbon will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Assembly of God Church, Edwardsville. The Rev. J.M. Graham will officiate and will be assisted by the Rev. Arlando Hale, pastor of the Glen Carbon Assembly of God Church. Interment will be in Glen Carbon Cemetery.
Mr. Allen, 50, an 18-year employee at Union Starch Company in Granite City, died Thursday at 11:13 a.m. at St. Joseph's Hospital, Highland. He had been hospitalized one week and had been in ill health the past four years. Mr. Allen had resided at Granite City until moving to Glen Carbon about 14 years ago.
Born Sept. 22, 1905 at Kinmundy, he was the son of the late John M. and Mary Ann Biefer Allen. He was married to Miss Bernice Baugh of Granite City on Sept. 17, 1936.
Surviving are his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Edward (Louise) Whemwell and Miss Gloria Allen, both of Glen Carbon, and Mrs. Staley (Barbara) Hall of Edwardsville; one sister, Miss Mary Allen of Glen Carbon; and six grandchildren.
Mr. Allen was affiliated with the Assembly of God Church in Edwardsville.
Visitation at the Lesley Marks Funeral Home will be after 7 p.m. today until noon Sunday.
