Cumberland News, Cumberland, Maryland, 29 Nov 1977: "MRS. WILLIAM J. ATKINSON-FROSTBURG--Mrs. Catherine (Kate) Atkinson, 92, of Mt. Pleasant Street, died yesterday in Frostburg Community Hospital. Born at Ocean, Mrs. Atkinson was a daughter of the late William Byrne and Elizabeth (Stakem) Byrne. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, the Sodality, Catholic Daughters of America and the Auxiliary of Alvin C. Neat Post, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Lonaconing. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth (Babe) Barkley, Lonaconing; four sons, William J. Atkinson and John J. Atkinson, both of Cumberland; Ronald Atkinson and R. Everald Atkinson, both of here; 12 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. Friends will be received at the Eichhorn Funeral Home, Lonaconing, today from 7 to 9 p.m. and tomorrow 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Midland. Burial will be in Belvedere Cemetery. The rosary will be recited tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home."
