BOARDMAN – Prayers will begin Saturday at 12:15 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home in Poland, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church for SO3 (SEAL) Gene "Geno" Clayton Jr., USN, 22, who died accidentally Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012, in San Diego, where he was stationed while serving in the U.S. Navy as a member of SEAL Team 7.

Geno was born May 22, 1989, in Youngstown, the son of Gene and Kimberly Clayton.

He was a 2007 graduate of Boardman High School, and later attended Youngstown State University before enlisting in the Navy. While at YSU, Geno was a member of the Hockey team. He also enjoyed spear fishing and skydiving and is remembered for his zest for life.

He is survived by his parents, Gene and Kimberly and three sisters, Jenna, Jessi and Channing Clayton, all of Boardman; and his grandmothers, Rachele DiGenova of Youngstown and Shirley Clayton of Boardman.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Nicola DiGenova and Eugene Clayton.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel.

The family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations to the Navy SEAL Foundation in Geno's memory.
