Zia Ahmad Sekander Aug. 16, 1933 ~ Feb. 10, 2009 Resident of Concord We are deeply saddened to announce that our father and grandfather, Zia, passed away on February 10, 2009 at the age of 2009. Zia was born in Kabul, Afghanistan and moved to the United States with his wife and 6 children in 1981 to give his children a better life. He lived in the Fremont area before settling in Concord. He loved playing card games and dominoes, he did tend to cheat from time to time, but we could never catch him in the act. He also enjoyed his geraniums and to spend time outside just admiring his plants. He was also a really good storytellers. He will be greatly missed by his wife Qudsia; his daughters Sofia and Ghezal; his sons Aziz, Haroon, Elias and Yama, Sr; and his grandchildren Jena, Yasmeen, Yama Jr., Ellie, Eliana, Nowel, Zadron and Amber. Funeral services will be held privately.
