"Mrs. Clara Isabella Ferguson, widow of R. Wallace Ferguson, passed away at her home in Schuyler Lake, Saturday morning at 4 o'clock from heart trouble and complications. She had been in poor health for some time and had been confined to her bed for the past five weeks, under the care of a nurse. She was a daughter of Delos and Mary (Tunnicliff) Orendorff, born at Orendorff Corners, March 8th, 1856. She lived there until eight years of age, when she moved to Little Lakes with her parents. She was married to R. Wallace Ferguson November 18th, 1880, and later they moved to Middlefield on a farm, where they lived for forty years. Ten years ago they retired and moved to Schuyler Lake. Mr. Ferguson died April 13th, 1938. She was a descendant of John Tunnicliff, one of the first settlers in that locality ... She is survived by three children, Miss Mary Ferguson, who lives at home, Miss Erma Ferguson of Philadelphia, Pa., and Leland Ferguson of Poultney, Vt.; also four grandchildren, Ernest, Alta Jean and Gretna Ferguson of Poultney, Vt., and Arthur Green of Buffalo, besides several nieces and nephews. She was a cousin of the late Nelson Tunnicliff of Warren and California, and the last survivor of that branch of the Tunnicliff family ... Burial was made in the family plot of the Westville cemetery." [The Otsego Farmer & Republican (Cooperstown, NY), Fri., Aug. 5, 1938, Page Two, col. 1]
