Pioneer Woman Passes Away. Body of Caroline A. Beede Brought Today From Washington For Burial Beside Husband In Local Cemetery
The funeral in connection with the burial services for Mrs. Caroline Beede is to be held this afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Methodist Episcopal church and interment will be made in the Glasgow cemetery.
The Beedes were among the earliest settlers in Glasgow, coming here from a farm near Hinkley, Minn., on the same train on which J.P. McIntyre first came to Glasgow. Mr. Beede was in the livery business and built the first buildings erected off Front street--the old log cabin occupied at the present time by the Log Cabin Insurance agency, and the old structure north of the Shannon hotel and east of the Milk River Valley bank, now used by the Coleman Hardware company as a storehouse.
The Beedes lived here several years and are well known among the early settlers in the county. Mr. Beede died, who was a civil war veteran, died over 20 years ago and is buried in the Glasgow cemetery. Mrs. Beede has been living with her daughter, Mrs. Nettie Wagar, in Bellingham, Wash., for the past few years. She was ill for four months before death finally released her from her suffering.
She is survived by her sons, Clarence and William, both of Glasgow; Ernest Beede of Leavenworth, Kans., and Guy Beede, who is in the army. Her daughters are Mrs. Kate Addington, of Anoka, Minn., and Mrs. Wagar, who comes with the body today from Bellingham, Wash.
