Roy Fred was born on Aug. 16, 1907 in Scranton, PA but grew up in Cleveland as his parents moved to Cleveland in 1913. He was the third of ten children and the first born in America. He had siblings Pauline, John, Victor, Jennie, Domenic, Margaret, Dan & Walter. His parents were Antonio and Luisa Iafelice.
He grew up on E. 120th St. in Mayfield & then 908 Nathaniel Rd. & graduated from East Tech H.S. in 1925.
Roy worked for a year and then went to Ohio University graduating in 1930.
He was 24 when he married Onda Calandra on Dec. 5, 1931. They lived at 806 Rondell then 918 & 1016 Nathaniel for a while and then 948 Nathaniel where Millie was born in 1945. They also lived at 15307 Utopia and then 942 E. 288th St. in Willowick. Roy divorced Onda in 1959 and married Viola Muccino on July 25, 1968.
He & Vi had been residing at 4915 Donald Ave., Richmond Hts., Ohio since 1973.
After 27 years of marriage to Viola, she passed away April 5, 1996 at the age of 77 years old. She is buried at Lakeview Cemetery in Cleveland. Roy worked as a floral designer and retired in 1977.
Roy celebrated his 90th birthday in Aug. 1997 with a party with over 100 people attending. His four children were there, 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, two nieces and one nephew, four great-nieces, three great-great-nieces, his younger brother Dan and his wife Sue & many other friends.
He had 15 grandchildren & 23 great-grandchildren. Of his 4 children, only Royene continued to live in Highland Hts. His son Wayne lives in Texas, son Norm lives in Wisconsin and daughter Millie lives in New Hampshire. He also has grandchildren living in IL, NH, TN, TX, WA & WI.
