Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 28, 2012, at 10 a.m. at The Runge Mortuary, Davenport. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the mortuary.
Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Davenport.

Marie was born October 22, 1923, in Maquoketa, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph W. and Mary A. (Dunne) McGiffney. She married Francis C. Welch on March 4, 1946, in Maquoketa. He preceded her in death on June 15, 1992.
She worked as an accountant for the U.S. Army Armament Materiel Readiness Command at the Rock Island Arsenal prior to her retirement.
She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. In her earlier years, she loved dancing. She also loved cats, flower gardening, puzzles, reading, playing cards and needlework.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Mary Zelnio, Moline, and Joleen Welch-Martin, Memphis, Tenn.; grandchildren, Jodi (Dan) Short, Moline, Brett Zelnio, Chicago, and Dylan Martin, Memphis; great-grandson, Dravin Martin, Davenport; her best friend, her sister, Arleen Johnson, Davenport; nieces, Colleen Johnson and Cynthia Noah; and her nephew, Richard Johnson.
Her parents preceded her in death.
