Walter H. Richardson, 89, died August 6, in a nursing home in Wilmar, Minnesota, where he had been residing a short time. The funeral was in the United Presbyterian Church, Hannaford, Tuesday with Rev. James Henderson officiating.
He was born in Mars, Butler County, Pennsylvania, June 5, 1876, the son of John O and Marian Richardson. In 1883 the family went to River Falls, Wisconsin, where he attended high school and college. In 1897 he came to North Dakota and homesteaded at Bisby. The following year he went to the Hannaford vicinity and began farming.
He married Ethel Knapp January 8, 1902, in Cooperstown, with Rev. O. D. Purinton performing the ceremony. They farmed in the Hannaford community until Mrs. Richardson's death in 1956. He retired from farming after she died.
He is survived by two sons and two daughters, Harry of McMinnville, Oregon; Raymond, Minneapolis, Minnesota; Mrs. Charles (Helen) Greenlee, Pittsburgh, Pa., and Mrs. Lester (Alice) Nattinger, Satna Clara, California; ten grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; Five sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Henry Nelson, Cooperstown; Mrs. Otis Harris, Mrs. James Abelman, and Mrs. Mabel Geisert, all of Bellingham, Washington; Mrs. Clarence Dunn, Seattle, Washington; John C. Richardson, Grand Forks and Lyman Richardson, Anaconda, Montana.
Preceding him in death, besides his wife were a son, Russell; three brothers, Harvey, Oliver and Roy, and two sisters, Margaret Solberg and Neva Haugen.
Burial was in the Hannaford Presbyterian Cemetery.
