Kokomo β€” Donald W. Barnes, 62, Peru, quietly went to be with the Lord at 4:45 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 22, 2012, at Caring Hands Nursing Facility in Peru. Donald was born Sept. 28, 1950, to Elmer L. and Lola V. Barnes in Kokomo.

Donald was never married and had no children. Since the 1980s, he spent most of his life in nursing facilities. He entered Caring hands Nursing Facility in 2006 and was there until his passing.

Donald enjoyed listening to music, especially country music. He also loved the Lord. Donald attended church services at Caring Hands every Sunday.

Several times a day, seven days a week, he could be heard quoting his favorite Bible scripture, "Do unto others as you would have them do to you."

Donald loved everyone he met and always had a smile to greet the nursing home staff as they came to work each morning. "Good Morning Beautiful", was his usual greeting. He was given the nickname of "Don Juan" by the staff caring for him at the facility.

He is survived by brothers, Jerry L. Barnes (companion Linda Brookshire), Burlington, and Bob (Linda) Barnes, Kokomo; two sisters, Pat DeVore, Logansport, and W. Jeanie (David) Zell, Peru; and several nieces, nephews and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and grandparents, John and Martha Barnes and Harvey and Lucy Barnes.

Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Stout & Son Funeral Home, Burlington Chapel, 44 Michigan St., Burlington, with Donny's nephew, Michael Zell officiating. Burial will follow in Whiteman Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 11 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.
