Edith M. Clingman Owen, the daughter of Ira and Genevieve Clingman, was born Dec. 7, 1915 at home southwest of Linby, Iowa. Edith graduated from Packwood High School in 1934. She married Max Owen on May 1, 1937 in Port Byron, Illinois. Edith lived in the Crawfordsville community for 39 years and then lived in Wayland for 13 years. She was a member of the Marian Avenue Baptist Church in Washington, Iowa.
Max and Edith were the parents of three sons: Jerry of Edinburgh, Texas; Gary of Greentop, Missouri; and Edward of Ainsworth, Iowa. Edith had 13 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Edith had one brother, Deane Clingman of Washington, Iowa and four sisters, Eunice White and Lila Lewis of Packwood, Iowa; Sylvia Nicola of Fouke, Arkansas; and Vera Hill of Batavia, Iowa.
