Buford was born in Pisgah Community, Nacogdoches, County, Texas to David H. and Myrtle Ludie (Bass) Blacksher.
He was a former resident of Jasper and Mauriceville, Texas and served our country in the United States Army during World War II.
He was a member of the Parkway Baptist Church, Bronson, Texas, and the C.C.C. (Civilian Conservation Corp) and was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 1345 A.F. and A.M., Bridge City, Texas. This year he was given a courtesy presentation of his 50 year pin by Miliam Lodge #2 A.F. and A.M., Nacogdoches. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite Free Masonry Valley of Galveston Orient of Texas, and the Bethel Cemetery Association Committee. He was a welder and retired from Gulf Oil Corporation in Port Arthur, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his baby brother; and his first wife of fifty three years Lois Bean Blacksher.
Survivors include his wife, Rosalie Barr Simmons Blacksher of Nacogdoches, Texas; son, Keve Blacksher and wife Judy, of Newton, Texas; daughter, Kay Shannon and husband Joe of Mauriceville, Texas; brothers, Huford Blacksher, Alonzo Blacksher and wife Margie, Robert Blacksher and wife Nancy and Jim Tom Blacksher and wife Earleen; sister, Marcelle Deloach; five grandsons, Keve C. Blacksher, Jr., Gary Michael Blacksher, Joe Shannon III, Timothy A. Shannon and George L. Shannon; four great-grandchildren, Blain C. Blacksher, Trace Shannon, Kaitlynn C. Blacksher and Caleb J. Blacksher.
