Professional Hall of Fame Boxer. Nicknamed "Bobcat", he was an exceptionally quick-fisted lightweight boxer and won the National Boxing Association championship after beating Beau Jack in 1943. He defended his title once again defeating Beau Jack in a re-match that same year. He was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1995.
