|Theola Mae Brown "Ted" of Battle Creek, Michigan passed away October 31, 2012 at home surrounded by her family and loved ones. She was born March 23, 1931 to Rockie (John) Mitchell and Burnie'D Mitchell.|
Theola graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1949. She continued her education at Kellogg Community College where she received her LPN license in Nursing. She then worked at several Nursing Facilities throughout Battle Creek. Being the dedicated care giver that she was, coupled with her love for people, she continued her career at Star Commonwealth as a House Mother. After her retirement she went on to become a Foster Mother where she cared for numerous children over several years.
Theola married Thomas R. Brown on January 27, 1951 and through that union they were blessed with three children.
Theola relished traveling and vacationing abroad with her family and being involved with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed taking an active part in her great grandchildren's activities. Theola treasured reading her Bible, Daily Bread, and other religious material because she truly loved the Lord. Theola was an avid member of Maranatha Original Church of God where she was on the Mother's Board and the Missionary Board. She valued her church family and working where ever she was needed in the church.
Theola leaves to cherish her memory daughters Rhonda E. (Lonnie) White and Regina L. Brown-McKnight, son Roderick D. Brown, one brother Donald (Paula) Mitchell of Portage, Michigan, two sisters Lela Brown and Lula Grimes, eleven grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, her church family, and several friends.
Theola was preceded in death by her husband Thomas R. Brown, her parents, and a sister Lena "Pat" Brown.
Family visitation will be held at Bachman Hebble on Friday November 9, 2012 from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
A home going service will take place on Saturday, 11:00 a.m. at Maranatha Original Church of God with Pastor Geraldine T. Richardson officiating.
Donations may be directed to the Oak Lawn Hospice in Marshall, Michigan. Arrangements by the Bachman Hebble Funeral Service a member by invitation Selected Independent Funeral Homes.
