A funeral for Emily Riehl of Southeast Portland, a retired laundress, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Caldwell's Colonial Mortuary. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Park. She died of causes related to age April 15 in a Portland care center. Mrs. Riehl was 93.
She was born Oct. 9, 1897, in the Ukrainian town of Brezno in Russia. Her maiden name was also Riehl. She immigrated to Winnipeg, Ontario, with her family in 1902, and later homesteaded in Alberta. She married Henry D. Riehl in November 1918 in Winnipeg.
The couple lived in Blaine, Wash., briefly before moving to the Portland area during the mid-1920s. Mrs. Riehl was a homemaker. She had worked for Troy Laundry for a number of years. Her husband died in 1977.
She is survived by her son, Gordon C. of Portland; brothers, Gus Riehl of British Columbia, Canada, Ben Riehl of Salem and Walter Riehl and Herbert Riehl of Millet, Alberta; sisters, Lilly Rody of Tacoma, Minnie Holland of Red Deer, Alberta, Emma Grubert of Seattle and Rose Lessing of Millet; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Her son, Alfred H. Riehl, died in 1970.
