AKRON, Iowa -- Irene Greenleaf, 67, of Akron, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away Friday, June 18, 2004, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Akron, with the Rev. LeRoy Seuntjens officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 7 p.m. today, with the family present 5 to 7 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., with the Rev. Zink officiating, followed by a rosary, at Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron.

Lois "Irene" Clarey was born on Nov. 15, 1936 to Edward Clifford and Iva (Belt) Clarey in Akron. She attended Breezy Hill country school through the eighth grade and Akron High School through the 10th grade. She later completed high school and became a certified food service supervisor. She worked in food service most of her life. She also spent two years as a truck driver with her husband, Ed, traveling the U.S. and Canada.


Irene married Nick Eufers in October, 1954. In December, 1968, she married Walter E. Jensen. He died in March, 1975. She married Edgar Greenleaf on Dec. 19, 1981. Irene lived in Akron her entire life. She devoted her life to her family and friends. She semi retired from Matney's Westside Manor in November of 1998 and immediately went to work at the Akron Senior Center, where she continued to touch so many lives. She will be remembered and loved, and her memories cherished by everyone who ever knew her.

She is lovingly survived by her husband, Ed; two daughters and their husbands, Donna and Richard Tripp and Barb and Bruce Mitchell, all of Akron; a son and his wife, Rick and Charlotte Eufers of Wildomar, Calif.; several stepchildren, Terri Greenleaf of South Sioux City, Kathy Greenleaf of Lodi, Calif., Jeannie Bordwick and Jo Griffin of Red Deere, Alberta, Canada, John Jensen and Jay, Jim, Jeff, Kelly and Kathy Hoffman; a very special foster daughter, Pat Theeler of Akron; grandchildren, Tony Tripp and Candice of Lemoore, Calif., Joey Tripp and his special friend, LaCreasha Beeck of Akron, Suetta, Ashley, Nicole and Ricky Lee Eufers, all of Wildomar and Katlin, Kelly and Kasey Mitchell, all of Akron; step grandchildren, Beth, Amy and Alan, all of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; a foster grandchild, Sara Stock and her family; two great-grandchildren, Brady Tripp of Lemoore and Joey Tripp Jr. of Akron; brothers, William Clarey, Clifford Clarey and his wife, Gladys and Robert Clarey and his
wife, Lois; sisters, Phyllis and Gerd Ludwigs, LaVonne and Estel Henry, all of Akron; a sister-in-law, Margaret Clarey of Akron; a brother-in-law, Clarence Greenleaf and his wife, Helen of Parump, Nev.; and several nieces and nephews and their families.

In addition to her parents and husband, Walter, she was preceded in death by brothers, Tom, James and Clarence, a sister, Mary, sisters-in-law, Noni and Phyllis; her mother-in-law, Nettie; and a stepson, Eddie Greenleaf.
