Clifford Allison Jr., of Vero Beach, died Feb. 3, 2003, at VNA Hospice House, following a prolonged illness. He was born Aug. 24, 1925, in Johnstown, Pa., and moved to Vero Beach 15 years ago, coming from Portsmouth, Va. Mr. Allison was an U.S. Air Force veteran of WWII, the Korean Conflict, Vietnam War, and the Cold War of Europe. He attended Center College, Danville, Ky., and retired as Colonel in the U.S. Air Force, after 36 years of service as a fighter pilot. Mr. Allison was a member of the Church of The Brethren, Experimental Aircraft Association, and the Quiet Birdmen of Vero Beach. Surviving are his wife of 12 years, Edna; three daughters, Margaret Surber of Newport News, Va., Jenniffer Brogden of Williamsburg, Va., and Cynthia Gendron of Bunn, N.C.; three sons, Thomas Allison of Somerset, Ky., Kent Allison and Frank Allison, both of Virginia Beach, Va.; two stepsons, Steven Merryman of Norfolk, Va., and David Merryman of Hampton, Va.; three sisters, Hazel Owens of College Station, Texas, Elizabeth DeBartelo of Sanford, Fla., and Janice Duffy of Gap, Pa.; two brothers, James Allison of Johnstown, Pa., and William Allison of Torrence, Calif.; 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Services will be held at Somerset, Ky., with interment in Somerset Cemetery. Donations may be made to VNA/Hospice of Indian River County, 1111 36th St., Vero Beach, FL 32960, in Mr. Allison's memory.
