Melvina Dahley was born July 29, 1924. She passed away Dec. 28, 2007 at Rosewood Nursing Home.

Melvina Timm was born to Arnold and Alma Timm in Berlin, ND growing up with her sister (Joyce Jones) and two brothers (Charles Timm, and Derald Timm (Lois), St. Joseph. In her junior year of high school her family moved to Fargo. Mel spent the remainder of the school year with a beloved aunt and uncle, Art and Martha Worrel, in Berlin to complete 11th grade. She moved to Fargo and graduated from Fargo Central High School.

She married Dwaine Dahley in 1946 and made their home in north Fargo. Mel and Dwaine had four children: Ronald (Laurie), West Fargo; Cheryl (Danny) Opgrand, Fargo; Kevin Dahley, Fargo; and Keith Dahley, Jamestown ND. Mel had a beautiful soprano voice and was a soloist at many funerals, weddings, and churches in the area. She was an avid crafter, with a special gift of crocheting beautiful doilies and blankets for her family and friends. She also was known for making the best macaroni salad in town. She worked as a seamstress in Fargo and Moorhead until the age of 76. Following a short retirement, she returned to work at Yunker Farm Children's Museum, where she worked until retiring due to illness. She enjoyed working with the children immensely. Mel was unselfish with her love and caring for others, providing care to her husband, father, mother-in-law and an aunt. She truly enjoyed life and especially being with family and friends. She loved being with family on a sunny afternoon at a car show, fleamarket, craftshow or celebrating a birthday, especially for a grandchild or great-grandchild. When her grandchildren got involved in sports so did Mel. She became a Spartan and later Jamestown College football and volleyball fan; American Legion baseball; bicycle racing and a West Fargo Packatahna fan. She was so very proud of her grandchildren: Jon (Vicki) Opgrand, Fargo; Jessica (Chad) DeJong, Fargo; Caine Opgrand, Fargo; Eli Opgrand, Fargo; Kara Dahley, Fargo and Emily Dahley, West Fargo. Mel has three great grandchildren who are so very special to her: Grace and Jonah DeJong, Fargo and Quinn Opgrand, Fargo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alma and Arnold Timm; her brother, Charles Timm; her sister, Joyce Jones; and her husband, Dwaine Dahley. Melvina taught her family and friends how to face life's challenges, care for others, live life fully, and how to face life's end with grace and dignity.
