BATAVIA -- Services for Jessie Crawford, 87, who died Wednesday morning at Jefferson County Hospital; will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Campbell Funeral Chapel in Batavia with the Rev. Kermit Black officiating. Burial will be in Competine Cemetery near Farson. There will be open visitation.
Mrs. Crawford was born Oct. 27, 1896 at Casey, the daughter of George and Cora Orton Sylvester. She spent nearly all her life in Jefferson and Wapello counties. She married Thomas Ralph Crawford in 1917 at Fairfield. He died in 1958.
Survivors include two foster children raised in the home, Retta Scott of Batavia, Ronald O'Brien of Dubuque; three sisters, Elsie Webb of Hedrick, Edith Smith of Rock Island, Ill., and Grace Coffin of Des Moines.
Mrs. Crawford was baptized in the Abingdon Christian Church.
