Funeral service for Ida Mae Melott, 90, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 29, 2010, at First Christian Church, Pond Creek, with the Rev. Dona Gilchrist officiating. Burial will follow in Pond Creek Cemetery under direction of Wilson Funeral Home, Pond Creek.
Ida passed away Saturday, June 26, 2010, in Enid. She was born Aug. 26, 1919, in Goltry, Okla., to David and Frankie Strait Wells. She graduated from Goltry High School. She and Vincent Melott were married July 26, 1941, in Enid. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Pond Creek, Christian Women’s Fellowship, a home demonstration club in Medford, the Grange in Jefferson and a pitch club. She and her husband farmed in the Pond Creek and Jefferson communities for many years.
Preceded in death by her husband on Dec. 31, 2007. Five brothers and two sisters also preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son, David and Donna Melott, Enid; three daughters, Debra and Steve Meritt, Pond Creek, Karen and Tom Ryan, Pryor, Okla., and Ann and Dan Clark, Muskogee, Okla.; five grandchildren, Michelle and Hugh Kimball, Enid, Aaron and Pavi Ryan, Alexandria, Va., Robert and Melanie Marshall, Muskogee, Okla., Adam Ryan, Los Angeles, Calif., and Michael and Sherry Melott, Lavon, Texas; 10 great grandchildren; one great-great-grandson, and three great-great-granddaughters.
Memorials may be made to First Christian Church, Pond Creek, Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, cancer or heart research, or Hospice Circle of Love.
Wilson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 478, Pond Creek, OK will serve as custodian of the donations.
