|The DOC cemetery was opened in 1913. Many of the earlier markers were made of wood and do not exist today. To visit any of these graves, you need to see the Chaplain at the prison.|
This cemetery has also been referred to as "Peckerwood Hill", derived from the history of the Oklahoma State Penitentiary which is next to the Jackie Brannon facility. The penitentiary was built on what was known as Peckerwood Ridge and through history inmates at the prison have been referred to as peckerwoods.
