Photo of Danish Cemetery
The Danish Cemetery, also known as Roland TWP (Township) Cemetery, is a peaceful small country cemetery surrounded entirely by farmland. This was the site of the Danish Lutheran Church, which was moved 3 miles South to Slifer, Iowa in the 1940's and then subsequently totally destroyed by a tornado in the late 1960's. Behind the gate to the cemetery you see the original sidewalk that led up to the church; a brick marker shows the former location of the Church that reads "Danish Luth. Church 1899". The original church faced North, and had a lot of steps leading up to the front of the church.
