Placed n memory of unknown soldiers buried near the Drum Barracks in Wilmington when it was in use from 1863 thru 1871. When their cemetery was raised for private houses the remains were brought here in 1887. The monument was placed there in 1938 by the Shiloh Post 60 of the GAR.
