Photo of Chestnut Oak Cemetery
This is a view of the Cemetery from the Southern Corner. The Cemetery was originally the Burying Ground for the Chandler Family and Undoubtably predates the Civil War. There are probably as many if not more unmarked graves here than those that are marked. A section of the cemetery, the one that has mostly marked graves was donated by A. J. Dycus and Ida Chandler Dycus who are buried there, but they were not married until 1893, and there are marked graves that predate their marriage. Also, there were burials done after death certificates became mandatory that indicate known burials here at Chestnut Oak as being at the "Chandler Graveyard."
