WILLOW GROVE CEMETERY is located on County Road 65A (New Bremen-New Knoxville Road), approximately 2½ miles northeast of New Bremen, Ohio.
The 12.14 acres was purchased in 1865 by Cord/Cort/Carl Dicke from C.H. Gottlieb Nietert. Both couples are buried here, as are some of their descendants.
Papers were filed on March 21, 1866 with Mr. Jas. H. Skinner, Auglaize County Recorder with 18 signatures. On September 2, 1941, due to the original title having never been filed or having been lost, the trustees applied for a fee simple (quiet) title, which was recorded in Journal Entry #13345 on January 2, 1942 in the Common Pleas Court, Auglaize County.
For many years the only records kept were a book recording lots purchased and monies paid. Beginning in 1994, a group of property owners and volunteers, feeling the need for better and more accurate records, walked the cemetery and recorded all legible names and dates from the tombstones.
Combining these new tombstone recordings with information from past research, funeral notices, family history books, church records, and from knowledgeable individuals, we feel these records are now in the best order we can make available.
