The year of 1856,on this spot of consecrated soil, Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church was organized. The church was built of hewn logs cut from surronding timber, leaving thirteen oak trees standing, thus the name Oak Grove was born.
When the doors of the Oak Grove Baptist Church were closed in 1994 an era of history passed, shaping the lives & eternal destinies of its members.
Martha Wrigh, widow of Joshua Wright, and her five children gave the land for the church and cemetery.
To her family and all those stalwart christians who created and passed on to us our heritage. We dedicate this memorial.
For noone can lay foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ 1 Cor. 3:11
