Photo of New Church Hill Cemetery
The New Church Hill Cemetery is across Route 75 from the Old Church Hill Cemetery in Turbett Township, about four miles south of Port Royal, Juniata County, Pennsylvania. It came into existence early in the twentieth century. At that time the Old Church Hill Cemetery was becoming crowded and Lemuel Kepner and his son, J. S. Kepner, laid out a new burial ground on the opposite side of the road. This was incorporated in 1905 and the following trustees appointed: Lemuel A. Kepner, Orin M. Kerlin, F. L. Koons, Lehman O. Boyer, J. T. Boyer. The first person to be buried in this cemetery was Homer McClure, Jan. 1, 1906. When the Kepner Farm was sold to Hugh Sarver in 1941, the cemetery also passed into his ownership. In 1962 the charter was reactivated and the following officers elected: President - J. Raymond Landis, Vice President - Melvin Kendrick, Treasurer - Charles Foltz, Secretary - Hugh Sarver, Trustee - William Deen.
