Photo of Irish Grove Catholic Cemetery
Mass was said for the first time in Irish Grove in 1841 by Rev. Petiot, of Galena who built a log church here. A large Irish settlement was established in 1838, making Irish Grove one of the oldest Catholic settlements in Illinois. This is the third Catholic church built on this site. A small cemetery is located in the back of the of the church.
