I have been doing genealogy since I was in college. I had to take a break when my children were growing up. My husband's Dyer family were in Schohaire County, NY for over 200 years and the original ancestors were William & Mary Dyer. Mary was the only woman hung at the stake in Boston Commons for her Quaker beliefs. Her close friend was Anne Hutchinson, who is also an ancestor. My family are McLain's - MacLeans of Killran, in Argyleshire, a cadet of the family of Lochbuie from the Isle of Mull - "MacLaine of Lochbuie". They came into Loudoun Co., Virginia and then settled in Ohio. I am also from the "Tarr" family who were the first settlers of Rockport, Essex, MA on Cape Ann northeast of Boston. They were ship builders. My children are 13 generation Americans!
