May 2009, Front of Perry County Court House. Ancestors, Wm Ransom Barnett Ggrandfather and Riley Qualls, GGgrandfather, both served 10th TN Cal. (DeMoss) Co. H. Confederate State of America.
Oh, this is my meanest look!
The replica 1847 Colt Walker revolver that I'm holding would have been like GGGgrandfather's Richard Hilburn. Richard Hilburn's daughter, Smitha married Riley Qualls. Hilburn left Perry County bef 1840 and went to the Republic of Texas. He served as 3d Sgt. in Col. Jack Coffee Hay's First Texas Mounted Rifles during the Mexican War. He served with such notable Texas Rangers: Wm A.A. "Bigfoot" Wallace, Samuel Walker, Capt. R.A. Gillespie, Michael H. Chevallie and other Heroes and Hall of Framers. He was among the first Texas Rangers in the Texas Ranging Company commanded by Bigfoot Wallace.
I need documented proof that Smitha is Hilburn's daughter for application into Sons of the Republic of Texas.
