|Quebec City, Quebec|
In English, it says:
Jean Demers, or Dumets, from Dieppe, contracted for the construction of this house in 1689. The masons LeRouge, Regnault, and Charpentier worked on it. The Demers family lived in it until 1764.
The structure of this house resisted the bombardments of the English fleet in 1759. The framework and roofing date to 1764. The house still contains the four original floors and the old milled beam ceilings.
From Jean Demers and Jeanne Vedié, his spouse, have come the numerous Demers of the region of Québec.
The Commission of Historical Monuments classified this house in 1966. Mr. Paul-Arthur Demers donated this plaque in 1989.
