Researching my family's history continues to be a most challenging and rewarding experience. At the beginning, our family knew nothing of our ancestors beyond my great grandfather. We had no idea of who they were, where they began, their occupations, family sizes, nothing.
Thanks to the help of many family members and friends, both old and new, the technology of the Internet, The San Antonio Genealogical Society, and the vast data base of Ancestry.com, a wealth of information has been learned about our beginnings. Thus far, over 2000 names have been added to the family tree. The research is still in progress, with new data constantly being added.
To all those who have assisted in this effort, I am most grateful. | |

 | RE: Memorial #28294189 Lorenz Not a problem...I don't have any problem with you keeping the memorial at all. I just thought if you weren't related I'd like to keep him and his wife together. I think I told you in the request, but if not, she is my 3rd cousin 1X removed so really don't know much about her. | | | Joan

 | RE: John Salmon Mangum
Hi James, My e-mail is lorhar@sbcglobal.net... I have found a lot of my husbands ancestors in the area... Geneology is a hobby for me and, I am trying to put albums together of my grown children's ancestors.. They don't seem to be very interested in dates, names & facts.. But, they like the stories.. I would like to know that the stories I leave behind are true, though. On the story of John Salmon Mangum is that him & his son were hauling a wagon of something to sell. I think it was salt.. They were camping for the night on the Frio River.. When they saw a gang of indians riding up to them.. John S. told his son to hide under some brush & leaves.. John S. was killed by them.. But, he saved his son's life. That son was Nathaniel Thomas Mangum.. Who later married Josephine Brummitt and later had my husbands grandmother... So, not only did he save his son's life but, all the babies that were born afterward's.... including my 5 grown children, my 6 grandchildren &, my 2 gr. grandchildren...And, all the other families... | | | Loretta Neal
