Bio

I have been researching my ancestors for 31 years. My initial research started at the National Archives in Washington, DC. I have acquired a lot of information on many of my lines that I hope to share with those who are interested in knowing more.

One of my goals of joining Find a Grave is to make sure everyone in my family has a memorial. If they don't already have one I will make one for them. I also hope to be able to link the family to their family. At some point I will make a special trip to the cemeteries to take pictures of the graves to share with everyone.

*NOTE: On August 25, 2015, I went to the Harmon II Cemetery behind the Haven of Rest Cemetery at Red House, West Virginia and took pictures of every headstone and marker and added them all to Find a Grave.

*NOTE: On August 26, 2015, I went to the Pleasant Hill Cemetery on Mud River Road at Hamlin, West Virginia and took pictures of every headstone, marker or rock and added them all to Find a Grave.

*NOTE: On October 12, 2015, I went to the Young Cemetery at Sams Fork, Hurricane, West Virginia and took pictures of every headstone, marker and rock and added them all to Find a Grave.

*NOTE: On October 15, 2015, I went to the Old Harmon I Cemetery at Red House, West Virginia and took pictures of both headstones and added them to Find a Grave.

*NOTE: On March 5, 2017, I went to the Guyandotte Cemetery in Guyandotte, West Virginia and took pictures of every headstone that was legible to read and added them all to Find a Grave.

*NOTE: On April 19, 2017, my son and I went to the Muck Family Cemetery and took pictures of every headstone that was there. There were 3 or 4 graves that were marked by a granite looking brick with no names on it.

*NOTE: On June 20, 2017, I went to the Thomas Family Cemetery at Red House, West Virginia and took pictures of every headstone that was there and added them to Find a Grave.

*NOTE: On April 2, 2019, I went to the Judson Baptist Church Cemetery at Winfield, West Virginia and took pictures of every grave maker that was there and added them to Find a Grave.

*NOTE: The end of April and beginning of May of 2020, I went to Mt. Moriah Baptist Cemetery, Hurricane, West Virginia and took pictures of every grave marker that was on the flat area near the picnic area. A few years ago I took pictures of all of the grave markers in the smaller cemetery across the street from the church. I also have taken a few pictures of the graves on the side of the church on the hill, but not all of them. I hope to go back and take pictures of all of the graves on the hill.

*NOTE: On June 20, 2020, I went to the McClanahan Cemetery on Poca River Road, Poca, West Virginia and took pictures of every headstone. There are a few memorials listed as being in this cemetery. I don't believe they are. I believe they are buried at the McClanahan Goff Cemetery in Lanham, West Virginia.

My family names are Winter ~ Vickers ~ McClanahan ~ Washington ~ Thomas ~ Lanham ~ Corbin ~ Mauck~ Muck ~ Melton ~ Harmon ~ King ~ Eggleston ~ Owens ~ Shiverdecker ~ Dickerson ~ Landers ~ Rust ~ Bailey ~ Thompson ~ Tucker ~ Higginbotham ~ Wellington ~ Webb.
