RE: George William Smith
I can tell you the way Grandma believed it to be. Again, this has not been proven and there are reasons to believe that some of it may not be true at all.

That said, the line goes like this:

Joseph John Smith was married to Sarah Susan Watie; their daughter Susan Angeline married William Newton Jasper Cole; Susan and William had 5 children, one of whom was my great grandfather--Jacob Edgar Cole. Jacob died before I was born, but I slightly remember his wife, Emma, who was known for her love of....dirty jokes and bananas! She loved to shock people by telling dirty jokes and if anyone came visiting and wanted to bring her a gift, they knew to bring bananas, because she loved them so much. Once in her hands, she would immediately take them and hide them so no one else could have any! :D

RE: George William Smith
Hi, Mike!

I actually have two George William Smiths that I have entered here. I presume you're talking about the George born in 1824, died in 1861.

In that case, most of what I know comes from my grandmother, who believed that our family descends from Stand Watie, who I believe was George's uncle.

You many notice I say Grandma believed this to be true....personally, I am very skeptical.

However, she researched the family and I have found bits and pieces online to add to the information she left, which mostly came from books on the Watie family.

Carol
