|Julie||RE: Ambrose Barber Carter|
There were actually five sons. Joseph, born 1885, died as a small child, and even my grandfather didn't have details. He was quite interested in family history himself, and I have somewhere a family group sheet done in 1968 that gives details hard to come by otherwise.
As I recall, the only place I have seen Ambrose's middle name spelled out was on the birth record of his son James Levi Carter, in Moultrie County, Illinois. I'd be glad to know of a documentary source of the different spelling.
The biggest missing piece of Carter genealogy for me is proof of the parentage of William W. Carter b. 1800. Circumstantial evidence all points to it being Martin Carter and Nancy Page, but I've never found a document to prove it.
I may be in Kentucky again some day, who knows?
Thanks for writing,
