|I have been bitten by the genealogy bug. I am in the process of proving my line of ancestors to become a member of the "Daughters of the American Revolution". Wish me Luck!|

Hello, I am very sorry but I do not have a picture of him. I wish I did. Would you happen to have any of Marie Long Moore? I would be glad to share anything I have on the family with you. Anna

Yes, I do have ancestry.com, plus 8 years of classes once a week on genealogy research with a registered genealogist. Even with ancestry some time I have a problem, but it certainly helps.
Even though I am eligible to join the DAR through several ancestors I have never attempted to join.

Most contributors will not make a transfers unless you click on "edit" and then chick on "Suggest any other correction or addition" to request a transfer.
Find a Grave makes all of the transfer for Hawkins Co. that were maintained by Ken who is now inactive. Tell them what relation you are, because they make transfers only to descendant within the guidelines of Find a Grave.
They used to make transfers to me if I had farther information and would add a bio, but they no longer do that.
I find it makes it easy for me if you would leave a flower, and state your relationship, for the person you would like transfered.
|Audrey DeCamp Hoffman||William Allen Buchanan|
About 9 years ago I made contact with Betty Buchanan Martin. She had been into genealogy several years before my grandfather died, as she had contacted him, and sent me a litter that he had written to her.
She spent many hours e-mailing me family data on the Buchanan line. When I saw that she put flowers on some of their memorials I offered to transfer them to her. She declined because she was in poor health and I think sense has passed away.
I hadn't been in contact with a direct relative until you contacted me and I learned that you are a direct relative of William Allen Buchanan through Robert Grant Buchanan.
Thank you for putting for-get-me-not's and a note on William Allen Buchanan's memorial. I will be transferring his memorial to you.
By now you probably know that I am very selective about who I transfer memorials to. You have proven to me that you are sincere, and I believe you and your mother will cherish and care for his memorial with love.
Tell your mother thank you for all the help.

I have made some changes on the memorial that you suggested. I have also reworded some of the bio's to try to make them more understandable. Read them over carefully to your mother. I was not able to find some of the information that I would like to have found. Your mother may be able to fill in information that I did not find.
William Allen Buchanan's second wife, Elizabeth Jane Hawkins was my grandpa, William Franklin Hawkins, sister.
By the way, Rassie Buchanan married my first cousin, Francis Hawkins. When I visited Hawkins Co in 1968 they took me on a grand tour of the area, and pointed out where people had lived that my Grandparents and mother knew and visited before they moved to California.

It makes me sad that so few put flowers on our friends relatives and ancestors memorials. I look often to see if any one visits their graves...Audrey
