Shoop Ancestry
Hi Steven,

I will send you an email with your detailed genealogy from present back to Johann George Shoop. I may have a couple of gaps in information. If there is anything you can provide beyond what I have, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks for contacting me!

RE: hi
Hi Steven,

It is great to hear from you cousin. I have traced our Shoop/Shupe family back to their roots in Germany. The original spelling of the last name was Schupp, and its spelling changed quite a bit over the years. The original Schupp immigrant was Johann George Schupp and he was born in Heidelberg, Heidelberg, Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany about 1684. He immigrated to Pennsylvania through Philadelphia and settled in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. All Shoops from the Lee, Wise, Scott, Wythe, Grayson, and Smyth Counties of Virginia descend from Johann. I really look forward to working with you on our family. I have several cousins that are more closely related to the Dickensons, Durhams, and Chandlers. One of them is Dianna Taylor. I believe she is a Dickenson from the Big Stone Gap area. Her Find a Grave profile page is here:

Talk to you soon,
