John B. Johnson grave Thanks Matt. Your photo allowed me to find my great grandparents grave. Went there last week and saw it in person. Cleaned it off and took a photo which I added to yours. It would be fun if other relatives show up.
Matt, I would like to have the Iron River - Savage grave photos. Pete and Margaret's oldest granddaughter, Zoe (von Ende), [my 3rd cousin] had her Savage book published this past fall. It's a great writing filled with ancestral photos. It would be great to view the Savage family graves. Will double check the dates for Pete Savage. The non-matching date may be my error. Thank you so very, very much! Colleen
RE: Laine photo request Thank you. My Dad is their son, he grew up there on a little farm somewhere north of Iron River, I can't remember where exactly, it's at the end of Laine Road. He went to school in Port Wing ( beautiful area). After my grandfather got Parkinsons disease they moved to town, that is the only place that I knew. I and my folks live in Paynesville, mn. and we try to get up there like every 10 years or so. Hoping to drive him up there sometime in the next year or two, maybe. His mom was a Hakala and her brother married Lawrence's (Jennie's husband) sister, so my dad and his cousin ( they each only had one son) have the same genes. They grew up close by each other, now they never see each other, and haven't for years, wierd. What is your last name, my dad remembers a lot of names from there? As you may have noticed, Jennie's stone doesn't have a death date, we tell him every so often to get that done but for some reason, maybe money, he doesn't. Us kids might need to do that, but who up there does that? Anyway, thanks again, I also do photo requests and it does take some fuel but I find it very interesting and for some odd reason, fun, Julie Laine Fearing
