|Robert Steingraber||Christian Fix stone|
Just spotted your photo request for Rose Hill Cemetery while checking on my listings there. Don't know if anyone else has contacted you but just wanted to let you know that there aren't many stones left in Rosehill. It was turned into a park in 1910 officially and in the 1960's the remaining stones were plowed under. All that remains are larger stones of "prominent" Syracusans like former Mayors. etc.
Onondaga Historical Associaation on MOntgomery St in Syracuse has the original card files and ledgers for Rose hill if you want any further information. The Fidagrave listing shows 393 burials but there are reportedly 10,500 people still buried there (they weren't moved. I havhe several family members there and many never had stones to begin with and those of "ordinary" people were plowed under.
And questions feel free to contact me, I often go to the Historical Assoc research room that has the records if you'd like me to look up any info for you.
My home emaill is email@example.com
