RE: Emelda Reeves portrait
Hi Sonya,

I'll try to call the History Center tomorrow because I would rather the painting go to them instead of a private owner. If it goes to a private owner I hope they appreciate the painting and display it properly. If I get a negative answer from the History Center I'll post something on Facebook. I'll mention the history of the painting and that you paid $2500 and will be willing to go a little less. If someone contacts me who I believe to be legit I'll pass your email to them.

Thanks!

Chet

Sonya.....a question I have for you. Could you ask June about a man she mentioned at our visit who was a son of the Winecoff Hotel pianist Ward Duval? I'd like to contact him. I think she said that he lived in the Athens area. I won't mention her name and I'll tell him that I tracked him down through an online phone book. Email me at winecoffresearch@yahoo.com to give me this information since I don't like sharing contact information publicly.

Thanks!

Hi Sonya,

Yes, I remember you and June. Both of you were so nice to invite Allen Goodwin and I into your home to talk about Emelda. Allen and I both took good pictures of the painting when we were there so we have photos. Sorry to hear you are selling it. Believe me.....if Allen or I had the money we would buy it ourselves. Allen had emailed me a couple of months ago about you wanting to sell it. I'm so sorry to hear the circumstances under which you need to sell it. I told Allen at the time that maybe the Atlanta History Center would buy it but I'm not sure if they would purchase the painting because of the historical significance of it being related to the Winecoff fire. They might just take donations. I can look into it to see if they would be willing to purchase it. I also just thought of putting a post on Facebook. I have a page dedicated to the Winecoff fire and could post the photo we took of the painting and see if anyone would be interested. I would share your contact information with only serious buyers. Let me know if these options sound good. Thanks so much Sonya.
