RE: Edwina Joyce Veal Gann

A few months ago, TelMex decided to discontinue their e-mail service. They did so rather unceremoniously, to my knowledge just pulling the plug with no warning. So, the e-mail address simply disappeared. Even when I called to complain the techie just said that my e-mail address really "belonged to someone else." Total BS! Made me wonder if the elimination of the service was accidental.

The obit for Cynthia Jo Mc says, "She was the daughter of Ed Gann and Dorothy Davis Gann."

I inherited the genealogy database from which I'm working. I think I found a lot of the McKittrick and Gann info, but apparently didn't read the obit carefully enough.

Thanks for the catch. I've updated my genealogy database showing Dottie as the biological mother of Cynthia.

I knew that Edwina was a diabetic, but only because my father (Houston Lee V, her only brother) told me about it. But I don't recall him ever telling me about the fact that she and Gann had been advised to not have children.

I posted the photo that my father gave me of Edwina's headstone. It was from that photo that I learned what her husband's name was. According to the Wise County genealogy website, her burial had been recorded, but the headstone could not be found. The picture posted on her F-a-G memorial is the one that I had.
It was a fine tribute to Edwina for your grandparent-in-law to take care of her grave site.

A new photo would be great, if you know where it's located. The Wise County folks could not find it. If you know where it is and can take a photo that includes a bit of the surrounding area, the Wise county might be able to record its lot/plot information on their website.

A portrait photo of her would be great, too. I know of no photo of her among my known surviving Veal-related contemporaries.

BTW, you can reach me at:

The prodigy e-mail address is the one I used on the F-a-G identification page for my membership.

Thanks for the heads-up; I'll try to remedy the errors, ASAP.

RE: Luke W McKittrick, Sr
Hi Bobbie.

As promised, I went and took the pictures today and they have been uploaded to your grandparent's memorials.

Anything else I can do, don't hesitate to ask.

Your grandfather
I transferred your Grandfathers memorial to you. I am currently up in Maine but will be back in Baltimore next weekend. I'll go take a pic of the headstone.

You are certainly welcome.

I love Find A Grave. Some memorials have lots and lots of information and some almost nothing but they help fill in the blanks for family history.

RE: Elzie Lee 'EL' Pittman
Hi Bobbie-

I would be happy to transfer their Memorials. I completely understand the LOVE we have for our "Grands".

I worked with Elwanda at the hospital and I remember your grandparents when they were in the hospital. I thought Elwanda, who we called "EL" was such a sweet gal. When my daughter married Darrel Blaylock, I began adding his family into our "tree" and discovered the familial relationships.

I updated this memorial before I noticed you wanted to manage it, but I did not change anything on your Grandmother's.

May God Bless you & yours,
