James and Virginia Baxter
Thank you for finding and taking the photos of James and Virginia Baxter! They were my second great grandparents. I had the Craven County Cemetery Survey Records to show they'd once existed, but I didn't think I would ever see them standing and in such good condition.

Simcox at Monona
Thank's so much for posting the headstone photo's on Philetus Simcox's memorial page. In the photo of the family graves, do you know the name of the child that is buried with them? I'm not aware of Melissa and Pliletus having a child that died young.
Would you also post the family graves photo to Melissa Jame Purcell Simcox Skinner's memorial...Find A Grave Memorial# 57347745?
Thank you so very much!

RE: Caho Family Cemetery
Mary,

I hate to say it, but I am not too sure myself. I got the information from the book by Dixie Willis. After I made a visit to Stonewall, I thought I had a good clue and was planning to make a trip back in the fall or winter. That didn't happen. I did find the Caho property and can send you the plat if you will send me an email. Based on the plat, I had two possible locations.

RE: Emma Taylor Photo Request
Thank you so much for taking the time to look. I am a little old to be tromping through cemeteries now but have managed to find the graves of my paternal great-grandparents in Virginia. Already had a Confederate headstone installed for one and working on a marker for my great-grandmother. If you need any information from me about Emma Jones Taylor, please let me know. I appreciate this so much.

Thomas Marks
Hi Mary
Just wondering if you had seen all the documents on Fold3 about Thomas Marks. It's worth the free signup. Last page (of 29!) looks like it says he was buried in the NC Soldier's Cemetery in New Bern. (State Cemetery rather than National?) I'll see if the library has anything on that.
Death date is definitely Mar 20, 1865. Says he was 47. Tells what wounds he died of, name of the hospital, etc.
Talked to the overseer of National Cemetery in New Bern and the cemetery wasn't even authorized until 1867.Your thoughts?

Thomas Marks
Hi Mary

Noticed your "problem" on Thomas Marks. I have over the last couple of weeks talked to librarians, County Clerks, checked all the Craven County cemetery record books in New Bern and even the registers for the time period from Christ Episcopal Church in New Bern who oversaw Cedar Grove prior to the city and find no record of Thomas.
Have you seen the Pvt T Marks listing on Find a Grave? Looks almost too close to be coincidental.
Wonder if family got ahold of him when he was disinterred. Will be watching your comments with interest. Feel free to contact me.

RE: Emma Taylor Photo Request
You are so kind. The person who originally posted Emma Taylor's information turned over management of it to me. I have not changed the information until I know for sure where she is buried. Emma Jones Taylor was my great-grandmother. I was thrilled to find John H Taylor's headstone in the Taylor Cemetery, and I also found their son there as well. I'm hoping you have good luck.
I have a daughter living in Franklin Wisconsin now. I also have relatives in the Richlands, and Jacksonville area but I only get down there every few years. Please let me know if you find anything. I am grateful for your efforts.

Emma Taylor Photo Request
Regarding Emma Taylor's grave. Her husband, John H Taylor, is buried in Taylor Cemetery, Richlands, NC. On Emma's Death Certificate, it states she is buried in Richlands. The Taylor Cemetery seems to be overgrown and difficult to reach and, if Emma is buried there, she may be in an unmarked grave. I really appreciate your effort in this but I certainly don't expect you to tromp through overgrown thickets to reach look for a grave that may never be found. Thank you so much for your effort.
