Mattie Milton Petty
Hi!

I was wondering if you had an obituary for Mattie Petty, born 1861, died 1927? You've got her in Weed Cemetery in Crenshaw County, Alabama. It references info from the death certificate but it also mentions that she is buried next to her son Andrew Jackson and his wife. It's an unmarked grave, right? I'm trying really hard to locate her husband, my 2X great grandfather Andrew Jackson Petty Sr.

Thanks so much for your help!

RE: John Wigg Boswell
Yes, I would like to add some obits you might have to the memorials I manage. (I took a break for a few years while completing a college degree and moving across the country and am still rather busy looking for a job and a house to buy, but try to spend a few hours every few months keeping everything updated here.

However, I do not want the obit for John Wigg Boswell on his page because it is rather morbid since the cause of his death was suicide. Please remove it.

Thank you,
Candice U.

James & Mary M. Linam Compton, Wilcox County
I know there were many Comptons in Crenshaw County and Margeno County. My 3rd great grandfather, James Compton (b.1778) and wife, Mary M. Linam Compton (b.1779) of S.C., settled in Wilcox County in or around the late 1830's. James was from the same area in South Carolina as Walter D. Compton of Crenshaw, and some believe they were brothers. Would you happen to have a scrap of info about James. He died in Allenton area, Wilcox County in 1849. His wife, Mary, then lived with her daughter, S. Alice Compton Walthall until her death in 1857.
It never hurts to ask. His son, James Frazier Compton of Wilcox, made visits to Pike/Crenshaw County according to family lore. One source has some of his children by his last marriage as being born in Pike County, AL, before they moved to Union Parish LA in about 1865.
Thank you so much for all your work.
