|Johnny||RE: Thank you Johnny|
You can order a death certificate for your Father. You can get a death certicate that show cause of death or one that doesn't show cause of death. This is a link to start the process or getting the certicficate.
Good luck or your search,

I sent a Suggest a Correction to Find a Grave contributor Jill to add a link to your Father. Michael William Steffe's grave is located in the Baltimore National Cemetery in Baltimore, Maryland. I am sure if you send a note and explain that he is your brother she would transfer the memorial to you if you would like.

Hello again Joel,
I have a Friend that volunteers at a Family History Center here in Jacksonville. I explained your situation to her and she volunteered to see if she could Find you some information on your Father and some of his family. She found this information on Ancestry.com . Barbara is an Angel. She is so good at putting the past together. In a search like this you have to keep searching and bits and pieces finally add up to a clearer story. I hope you find this information to be helpful. It gives you some history on your Father.
Johnny, how cool that you were able to help that fellow find his father. Here is some more.
In the 1920 census he lived with his parents and older sister at 2529 Dulany St in Baltimore. His father was Guy W Steffe, 29, born in Maryland of Maryland parents. Leroy J's mother was Mollie, 21, born in Virginia of Virginia born parents. He and his sister Edith B, age 25 months were both born in Maryland. Leroy J was 7 m old. His father worked as a machinist in a railroad shop.
In the 1930 census Leroy and his sister and his divorced father are living in the household of Norward J Dolling who is married to Samie, and they have a 18 year old son, Edward. Also living in the household is 77 year old Lily Steffe, a widow who was born in Maryland as were her parents. Since Lily is the mother-in-law of Norward it would appear that she is probably the mother of Samie and Guy, and the grandmother of Edith and Leroy. Every one of these people were born in Maryland of Maryland born parents. Both Norward and Guy are machinists for the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad.
By 1940, Leroy is 20 and still single. The depression is going on. He is working as a self employed painter. He lives at 415 Whitridge in Baltimore with his mother Mollie Burton who was the informant of this census. She is married to Eward J Burton the 47yo head of household who is a self employed coal dealer, who was born in Kentucky. 47yo Richard Marlowe also lodged in the household. He was employed by the WPA.
Leroy had completed 4 years of high school, (unlike 1 year as mentioned in the military record). Leroy had lived in the "same place" five years prior as did Richard Marlowe. Mollie reported that she and Eward both had lived in Baltimore.
The above came from Ancestry. Hope your fellow gleans something new from it.
Til next time :-)
His last residence according to social security was in Jacksonville 32206. (Maybe he was visiting in Alachua co at the time of his death. Maybe he had family there.) His SSN: 219-07-5479, which he got in MD prior to 1951.
He enlisted in the US Army from Baltimore city, MD on 28 July 1942 in the Branch Immaterial- Warrant Officers, USA as a private. He was a cook in civilian life, and he was separated. He was 67 inches tall and weighed 130 lb.
