Bio and Links
Bio Photo I was born in Evansville, Indiana and worked for the Electric Cooperatives in Illinois. Can trace the Kouts (Kautz) back to PA in 1700's, migrated to northern Indiana and GGGrandfather's brother gets credit for founding Kouts, Indiana in Porter County.

Have been into genealogy for close to 50 years, but still stumble into items of interest. I look for and am researching Kouts, Kauts, Ellsworth, Hyatt, Kring, Manning, Phillips, Phelps, Aughtman and Greenlaw. Some of these families are traceable back to the "Old Country"as far back as the 1200's and further. If you are of any of these families, send me an email and we can compare trees. May have what you need and you may have what I need.

You may use anything of mine, just name who furnished the info and list the source, ie:FAG

RE: William Kouts
I try to do it as it makes it easier to find them. As I have found out with some of my relatives, when they are buried together some cemeteries dont even have a record of all buried in the grave. Then when you find the grave you see the headstone which lists both.

As for the plot number, I am in the process of verifying all the graves in that cemetery. Only because after seeing three different lists of burial spots, they all dont agree.

Hi Tom: If your Phelps are from the Marlboro, Vermont area, they may well be related to those I have located.

This Phelps Cemetery was close to extinction when I listed the memorials and I was so happy to get what stones were remaining into this data base. Thank goodness for the photographer who traversed into the woods!

Some of the Phelps married into the Robert Adams family, which is the beginnings of my Elias Adams line. Nice to hear from you ~ findagrave is a great resource.
Cheers~ Shirleen

RE: Charles
I think we all have some of these people in our families. I recently learned my grandmother's sister tried to shoot her husband on the steps of the courthouse after she found out he got a 14 year old girl pregnant then bribed someone to marry her so he wouldn't go to jail. You never know what you are going to find when you start shaking the branches of the family tree. :)

Thank you for the fabulous information on Samuel and his family. The obit stated 7 children and 6 were listed on the page you sent me. Now I want to find the kids and tuck them under the wings of the parents. :) Thanks again! If this is your family and you would like to administer these pages, please just ask.
