RE: Thank you
PS,
The military is pretty strict about people using their legal name and using it the right way.
That is neat that you found the records you found and got your answer with proof, and not by my, by guess by golly method of doing it. :-]

RE: Thank you
In my years and years and years of research I have seen hundreds and hundreds of times people on the census with their name one way and then after they grew up and from then on it was the middle name first and first name in the middle. I think a long time ago it used to be a fad or something to start going by your middle name.

RE: Thank you
Hi,
Why is his name spelled the wrong way?
Well, since I did not make the gravestone nor did I order it to be put on his grave all I can do is guess.
He is in the State of Oregon death index as Eugene F., he is in his funeral notice in the paper as Eugene F., he is in the military death records as just Eugene, BUT, he is in the VA data base of military burials as Forrest Eugene. Go figure.
It had to be a mistake by somebody somewhere along the line.
If you contact the cemetery he is in, they should be able to tell you if you could order a new gravestone to be made that has his name the right way.
This is their phone # and address=
